Sección de Investigación y educación en periodismo
The Journalism Research & Education Section (JRE) invites submissions for its open sessions at the IAMCR 2017 Conference to be held from 16-20 July, 2017 in Cartagena, Colombia. The deadline to submit abstracts is 9 February 2017. Proposals for consideration must be submitted via the IAMCR Open Conference System at http://iamcr-ocs.org
The overall theme of the IAMCR 2017 annual conference is Transforming Culture, Politics & Communication: New media, new territories, new discourses, focusing on the transformations in communications and media related to the appearance of new social movements organized under new references, such as e.g. ethnic identities. News actors that see “politics” as spaces of multiple modes of participation, challenging traditional actors and loci in politics, such as political parties and modes of participation.
The JRE Section invites papers that reflect about these transformations and their influence on the journalistic field.
How does Journalism interfere and is modified by this context? What are the relationships with new spaces and political movements? How is then journalistic identity being challenged and does it respond to the social and cultural changes in the field of politics? How and with what intensity are journalistic practices being changed in a world with new territories and new discourses? What answers and concerns have been found and raised by journalism research and education in a world of new territorial concepts, where the interaction between the center and the periphery no longer follows the traditional North-South, West-East dichotomies?
The JRE Section is open for panel proposals, workshop sessions and individual research paper proposals that address the issues related to the main theme of IAMCR’s 2017 annual conference as well as for proposals that amplify the comprehension of journalism research and education, for instance following these guidelines (but not limited to):
